At present your car licence will provide provisional licence entitlement for
a motorcycle up to 125cc (max 14 bhp) with L plates. You will, however,
have to take a motorcycle theory test and pass both the off road and on
road test then you can ride a bike up to 33bhp. This restriction applies for
2 years when it is automatically deleted.
Almost all motorcycle manufacturers will provide restrictors for their bikes
to comply with this legislation.
All our lessons are conducted by fully qualified AMI instructors who will
use motorcycles themselves fitted with radio intercom.
We provide all the equipment you will need - helmet, gloves, protective
jacket, over trousers and wet weather wear as well as 125cc training
bikes.
If you have a provisional motorcycle entitlement on your licence before
21st February 2011 you have until 20th February 2012 to either pass
your test and obtain a full licence OR take your CBT (Compulsory Basic
Training) Certificate, which is valid for 2 years.
If you obtained your provisional licence after 21st February 2011 you will
need a CBT Certificate before going on public roads.
